EXPERIENCE
1970 -
I started riding when I was 4 years old, on a pony that was given to me by the farmer that lived
next door to us. I grew up in Sussex, United Kingdom.
1971 -
At 5, my parents bought me a very difficult pony who taught me to ride. I competed in local gymkanas.
1974 -
At 8 years old I moved to Ashdown forest in Sussex and another stables which was actually a welsh section A stud - Fielden Farm, run by breeder Bunty Douglas - Fielden Farm, Fielden Lane, Crowborough, East Sussex. She bred and showed Welsh ponies and took me under her wing. I rode her ponies, competing in large and small shows around England - Hickstead, South of England, Royal International Horse Show - Wembley, Windsor and many others.
I showed her ponies in riding classes and pairs of children’s ponies, gaining first prizes often.
I also did huntertrials and one day eventing and hunted throughout the winter months on the Welshies.
1976 -
By ten I was long reining, braking and backing her ponies including my own 14.2 welsh thoroughbred
who I bought when he was 4, and bought him on to compete in working pony classes, cross country,
dressage, one day events and hunted him. His name was Fielden Fircone, bred at Fielden Farm by Fielden Peter out of Fielden Sircone
1982 -
I outgrew Fircone after some really fun years and gave him to a young girl who went on
to compete with him, winning Pony Club pony of the year for Eridge Pony Club.
1984 - 1991 -
I went to art college and trained to be a graphic designer and illustrator, and have worked
in various publishing companies designing books in London.
Dorling Kindersley, Harper Collins and Ivy Press are a few. I have lived and worked in London for 17 years
running my own graphic and illustration business.
1991 -
After college I took a year out and went around the world riding where I could - America, Australia, India, Asia, New Zealand.
1992 -
I then returned to London to work and visited Fielden Farm whenever possible which I still do now,
riding the horses that I broke in as a child on Ashdown forest .
2001 -
I visited South America for 2 months and also got in touch with an old riding pal who runs her own riding holidays in Patagonia. I rode out with them, helping to cook and helping generally where they needed me, putting up tents and helping the guests.
2001 - 2009 -
Generally, I go back to ride in Sussex when I can and also I borrow an Andalucian horse in Southern Spain where I have some friends, and ride out on him when I get a chance.
I would love to take a year or more and just be and work with the horses again.
I have alot of stable management experience.
