Fitness Instructor
Duration: December 2007 – September 2008 Contact: Justin and Fiona Murphy
Company: Pinnacle Health and Fitness Details: (07) 866 4301
Really enjoyed working with people and helping them achieve their goals. My duties included enrolling and re-enrolling clients as members, customer service/ minding reception, writing exercise programs relating to the individuals goals and needs, general cleaning of the facilities.
I really enjoyed being able to help and motivate clients of all ages (ranging from young teenagers to clients in their late 50s) succeed in their weight and fitness goals. The clients that I mainly worked with wanted to lose weight and get fit, so my program had to be tailored to the clients’ age, fitness level, and previous experience in gym training, injuries and health issues, time frame and most importantly their specific goal.
Nursery Laborer
Duration: January 2007 -September 2008 Contact: Brett Gregory
Company: Hahei Plants Ltd Details: (07) 8663 224
Awesome job; a whole sale nursery where we would import plants from various parts of the world and sell them on. My role here was what ever needed doing I'd do! General maintenance and care for the plant s and property which was often rather physical with heavy lifting and operating machinery such as tractors. Some office jobs involving orders and paying bills. Really enjoyed learning about different plants and their natural environment. I learnt heaps about the rules of importing especially plants into New Zealand and some of the procedures in place.
Horse Trekking Guide
Duration: Last 10 years Contact: Tessa Gregory
Company: Rangihau Ranch Details: (07) 8663 875
This is a family business on the Coromandel Peninsula. Role includes taking clients of all ages and abilities on horse-back over the farm and general care for the horses. Group management is very important as well instructing on how to ride horses.
I love being outside and to be able to share with others the beauty of the Coromandel on horseback with others.
Through working as a horse trekking guide I have also learnt some of the local history, land marks and heaps about the native plants and bush which I love learning about and sharing with others.
Living and working on the farm has giving me the confidence to work with not only animals of all kinds but machinery as well; including – motorbikes (two-wheeled and four), tractors and trucks.

Company: Wiltony Stud, Theodore Australia
I worked here in exchange for my living cost and my jobs feeding, grooming and some riding of the horses here at the stud. There were 3 stallions, mares and youngsters that were of Andalusian, Lipizzaner and Warmblood breeding. We handled the foals and did lots of mucking out.
Caving Guide
Duration: March 2009 – April 2012
Company: The Legendary Black water Rafting Co.
An amazing job to have!! Caves are a beautiful place to be able to share with such a variety of different people of different ages, nationalities and experience. I guide all three of our trips; 3hr Black Labyrinth, 5hr Black Abyss and our 2hr dry tour. Each trip is so different to each other in the types of people they attract and require a large amount of skills for each of them.
Group Management, working alongside another guide, local and cave history, environment and wildlife knowledge, rope skills and knowledge are all part of the job that I enjoy being a continuous progression with this amazing job.
This job has also allowed me to develop my own personal technical skills that I have been enjoying using outside of work in a variety of different caves.
Stable Hand

This was a great experience and I gained valuable skills and knowledge on quarantine for horse export, general handling and running of the stables.
