Profile
I am registered veterinary nurse at Bishopbriggs and Chryston Vet Centre. Ienjoy working as part of a team but can also work
alone. I am a very determined and hardworking person that always wants to do their best. I
am eager to progress in my field of study and learn more each day.
Skills
Iam a very confident and patient individual, who is always up to trying new things to gain and develop my skills. Ilove working not only alongside people in a team but also on my own. Ihave always been a very practical type of person and spend most of my time outside
caring for all my pets at home. Before I lost my beloved horse of eight years to a severe foot abscess, you would never find me away from the yard spending as much of the day as possible with him. Owning my own horse has allowed me
to be able
to solve problems on
my own through trial and error rather than have someone tell me how to do something.
Experience
Waiting staff March 2017 - September
The Clachan Inn, Gordon Strang
I started working as a waitress at The Clachann in Drymen in March 2017. From previous experience at another restaurant I already had some skills that helped me. My main
duties at the Clachan
were to seat guests, take food and drink orders, serve drinks and run food. After the restaurant closed to the public, the tables were to be cleaned and re-set tables and the fridges stocked. Meeting new people continuously every night was a great experience for me as I love being able to socialise with different people of al backgrounds. There were also
some language barrier issues that Ihad to overcome too with people coming from all over the world and speaking little English. Itook it upon myself to learn some key words in a variety of languages to help communicate with people.
2017

 Trek Leader May 2018 - May 2021
Castle Redknock Trekking Centre, Janet More
I started working at a riding school in May 2018 which I thoroughly enjoyed as I love horses and being outside. I prepared horses for the day alongside other members of
staff, controlled treks and made sure that horses and customers with ranging riding abilities were safe throughout. Many younger children volunteer at the riding school and since horses are very large, powerful and unpredictable creatures, Icreated a scheme that only senior members of staff were allowed into the main
stables and each volunteer were paired up with a senior
member of staff fi working with or around the horses. I felt this plan would help keep all the younger volunteers much safer.
Veterinary Care Assistant/Nurse Student/RVN
July 2017 - Present
Bishopbriggs Vet Centre, Jennifer Braid
I have been attending Bishopbriggs Vet Centre since July 2017 and have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience. I previously attended Bishopbriggs Vet Centre for work experience alongside studying my equine course to gain an insight in the
veterinary practice. I progressed into a veterinary care assistant student at Oatridge college and continued my placement at Bishopbriggs. Iwas then able to secure a place on the veterinary nursing course which Iwas extremely proud of. With lots of determination, studying and placement hours at Bishopbriggs Vet Centre and the Glasgow University Vet School, I completed my course and passed my practical OSCEs. Bishopbriggs Vet Centre offered me a full-time position and I have thoroughly enjoyed working as qualified veterinary nurse.
Achievements
Duke of Edinburgh Award - Bronze
January
2017
In order to achieve my Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award I had to complete three sections; volunteering, skills and
physical. For the volunteering section, I volunteered at the Riding for the Disabled Association in Bannockburn. During my time volunteering Ideveloped many new skills, working with a variety of horses and people with all different skills and abilities. My volunteering section
was only three months long but ended up staying for
nine months since I enjoyed working for the RDA So much. For my physical section, Ichose horse riding since Ienjoy it and was lucky enough to own one at the time. I was able to further my skills through riding and managed to compete in cross country events which was one of my main objectives. For my skill section, Ichose cross stitching. I am a very patient and accurate individual, and Ilove to concentrate and work out
solutions to problems. Through cross stitching Iwas able to focus and develop my accuracy skills.
